1980: Lettered as a freshman, playing 35 minutes in ten games … averaged 3.2 yards per try in 11 carries … was inserted into the lineup in short yardage situations.

1980 Media Guide: Ohio State coaches believe Broadnax will be a “surprise” in the freshman class … was not highly recruited by many colleges … has good speed and impressive strength.

High School: Did not come into his own at Xenia High until 1979, his senior year, when he ran for 802 yards on 150 carries and scored 10 touchdowns … started his first game in high school as a junior and had a 55-yard touchdown run on his first carry … was better known as a wrestler in high school … was the Ohio heavyweight champion in 1980 and was runner-up in 1979.

Personal: Interested in air transportation … hobbies are riding a bicycle and judo.
