High School: Among the final commitments to Ohio State’s 2016 class of recruits, Rodjay (pronounced RAW-jay) Burns was a two-way specialist from Kentucky’s powerful Louisville Trinity program, which has 23 state championships including one in 2014 while Burns was a junior … the No. 3 “athlete” in the state according to ESPN, Burns had Top 50 “athlete” status nationally by ESPN (No. 44) and Scout (No. 45) and was rated 73rd at cornerback by 247Sports … played safety and wide receiver in high school and had 54 tackles and eight interceptions combined as a junior and senior and was named a first-team all-state performer both years by the Associated Press … scored 14 receiving touchdowns in 2015, seven in 2014 and had a punt return score each year … totaled 91 receptions and 1,462 yards his final two seasons as receiver and helped Trinity to 11-win seasons each year … Trinity, coached by Bob Beatty, missed a repeat state title in 2015 after losing by one the quarterfinals to eventual champ Male, 20-19 … Burns was runner-up for Kentucky Mr. Football as a senior.
