Post-OSU Update: Ricquan Southward left Ohio State during the 2012 season for personal reasons. He ended up at a junior college, Arizona Western College. After one year there with minimal playing time, he transferred to Division II Colorado Mesa. (updated: Nov. 2023)

High School: Played for the powerful Lakeland Dreadnaughts, Florida Class 7A state semifinalists for three consecutive years including in 2011 … Ricquan had a breakout senior season for coach Bill Castle’s 13-1 team with 54 receptions for 994 yards and nine touchdowns … he also scored touchdowns off punt and kickoff returns, and he averaged 11.2 yards per rush off 24 rushing attempts … Ricquan broke the Lakeland school single game records for receptions (12) and receiving yards (238) against Hialeah Oct. 14, plus scored the winning touchdown in a 16-10 game … named first-team Class 7A all-state by the Associated Press in 2011 … rated the No. 36 receiver nationally by ESPNU.
