Weight: 275 (1991), 285 (1990), 280 (1989), 270 (1988), 260 (1987)
1991 Media Guide: Valuable reserve who can back up either side … began year at quick guard, but wound up the season as the No. 2 quick tackle behind Alan Kline … has also played center for the Buckeyes and could conceivably see action at any of the interior spots this year.
1990 Media Guide: Will be the No. 2 quick guard … impressive young player with a bright future … has the size, speed and agility to play any of the interior offensive line positions … Played center in 1988, but was moved to strong guard last year … was to have enrolled in the fall of 1987, but after injuring his knee in the state high school playoffs did not enroll until winter quarter 1988 … redshirted the following fall…
1989: Played a total of 22 minutes in five games as a backup to Karl Coles.
1988 Media Guide: A knee injury in the 1986 state high school playoffs kept him from enrolling last fall … enrolled in the winter and was able to practice last spring … moved from tackle, his high school position, to center in the spring in an effort to shore up the depth behind Jeff Uhlenhake … very highly thought of in high school … has the potential to be a good college player.
1988: Redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played tackle and was chosen as Ohio’s Lineman-of-the-Year as a senior … his top football thrill came when his Wooster High team defeated Orrville for the first time in seven years … a knee injury in the 1986 playoffs forced an operation and makes his status doubtful for this fall … also lettered in wrestling and track.
Personal: Majoring in advertising, but ambition is to someday own his own restaurant (his favorite food is his mother’s liver dumpling soup) … hobbies include playing golf … favorite food is sirloin steak.
