Post-OSU Update: Jesse Mirco transferred to Vanderbilt after the 2023 season. He stated he wanted the opportunity to “kick the ball as far as you can” and “be appreciated for what he was doing” when discussing why he transferred from Ohio State to Vanderbilt. Mirco did kick the ball a lot farther in 2024 – he averaged 48.0 yards per punt for the Commodores on 51 punts. He was selected first-team All-SEC for his efforts. (updated: Apr. 2025)

2023 Media Guide: Jesse has handled all of the punting and holding responsibilities since he arrived on campus in 2021 … he is a two-year Varsity O letterwinner with 80 career punts to his credit and a career average of 44.2 yards per punt which ranks fourth in school history … had dropped 37 punts inside the 20, has 18 over 50 yards and has only had seven touchbacks … has punted more than three times in a game only six times out of 26 games played.
2022: Had a fine sophomore season with the Buckeyes when he averaged 45.4 yards per punt to rank 12th nationally and third in the Big Ten Conference … his 45.4 average in 2022 is the sixth-best single season average in Ohio State history and it includes a 50.3-yard average against Northwestern for the ninth-best punting game in school history (min. 5 punts) … punted career-high seven times for a career-high 352 yards in windy, windy conditions at Northwestern … other top punting games last season were at Michigan State and at Penn State when he averaged 52.0 yards per punt off three punts, respectively.

2021 Media Guide: Was a member of the 2021 signing class and enrolled in January of 2021 … signed his letter of intent with the Buckeyes in September of 2020 because he was already 23 years old.
High School: Comes from ProKick Australia, the same program that developed former Buckeye Cameron Johnston, a Ray Guy Award finalist who is currently in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles … was the No. 4 punter in the Class of 2021 … committed to the Buckeyes in May of 2020 … is a former Australian-rules football player who learned the art of American punting in just fourth months from ProKick coaches Nathan Chapman and John Smith.
