Post-OSU Update: Jeff Heuerman was selected in the third round (92nd overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. He tore his ACL in camp and missed the 2015 season. Heuerman played 51 games over four seasons, all with the Broncos. He finished his NFL career with 63 catches for 678 yards (10.8 avg) and five touchdowns. (updated: Nov. 2023)

2014 Media Guide: Jeff Heuerman is one of the top tight ends in college football … he is outstanding as a blocker, as a route runner and as a receiver … he is also a leader, even being called out by strength coach Mickey Marotti this spring as being the “ringleader of what we want in terms of work ethic” … the owner of a team-best 33 bench press reps of 225 pounds and with the second highest vertical leap – 36.5 inches – on the team, Heuerman is a talented athlete from a house full of talented athletes (father, Paul, was a basketball captain at Michigan and brother, Mike, is a sophomore tight end at Notre Dame) … he missed most of spring drills this year with two injuries – broken nose and mid-foot sprain – but that isn’t a concern: he’s played in 36 games and started 22 times over the last three years and he enters 2014 with 35 career receptions for 585 yards – an impressive 16.7 yards per catch average – and five

2013 Media Guide: Jeff Heuerman is not only an outstanding football player, he is an outstanding athlete … his vertical leap of 36.5 inches is the second-highest on the team … he can bench press 225 pounds a team-leading 33 times … on the gridiron, Heuerman is coming into his own as a blocking, receiving and route running force at the tight end position for the Buckeyes … this true junior has played in 23 games over the past two seasons and he started nine times last season, including in each of the Buckeyes final seven games … he has nine career receptions for 119 yards and one score … his first collegiate touchdown came against Nebraska last year, an 18-yard reception from Braxton Miller to give the Buckeyes a 21-17 lead in a game they would win, 63-38 … also caught a career-long 35-yard pass against the Cornhuskers for the first multi-reception game of his career … Heuerman’s biggest catch isn’t among his nine career catches, though … it was an undefeated-season-saving two-point conversion reception that allowed the Buckeyes to tie Purdue, 22-all, and send the game into overtime.
