2013 Media Guide: Jack, who has started for the Buckeyes at left guard, right guard and left tackle, has assumed such a significant leadership role on this team that coach Urban Meyer said this spring that he will be one of the team’s captains this year … “It’s not a dictatorship at Ohio State, and we let our players choose captains,” Meyer said at a gathering in Toledo. “However, all those votes have to pass by my desk. So I’m going to tell you who one will be.” … the player he named was Toledo native Jack Mewhort … the crowd was pumped … Mewhort, who captained his St. John’s Jesuit High School team as a senior, has played in 35 games as a Buckeye and he has started 25 consecutive games along the offensive line heading into his senior season of 2013 … included was starts at left tackle in all 12 games in 2012 when the Buckeyes went 12-0, won the Big Ten Conference Leaders Division, were ranked No. 3 in the nation and were the only undefeated team in the Football Bowl Subdivision … Mewhort helped the Buckeyes average 242.2 yards per game rushing (10th nationally), lead the Big Ten in scoring (37.1
