2000 Media Guide: Heath Queen’s playing time has improved each season at Ohio State, and this year should be no different. A massive pass rushing specialist, Queen is a lock to always play every down like it might be his last. “He has a great attitude and always gives us a great effort,” Jim Heacock, defensive line coach, said. “He worked hard in the offseason and you can see the improvement.” For the first time in his career, Queen has worked his way on to the two-deep entering the season. He’s listed as one of two people for the backup spot at defensive tackle, and should be part of Ohio State’s defensive line rotation.

1999: Played in eight games … totaled 34 minutes, including a career-high 11 minutes against Penn State … recorded six tackles, the highest single-season total of his career thus far … started the season with a bang, making four tackles in only six minutes of playing time against Miami (Fla.).

1999 Media Guide: Although Heath Queen is not on the Buckeyes’ two-deep charts this yet, this sophomore with a bright future has worked his way into the rotation and comes into games “with his motor running,” defensive tackles coach Jim Heacock said. “He is right there in the mix and his work ethic is going to result in playing time.” A physically strong and tough player, Queen is usually around the football and he is going to make the Buckeyes’ already strong defensive line even more talented and deeper in 1999.

1998: Played in eight games for the Buckeyes and totaled five tackles and one pass breakup. Four of his tackles were solo hits. Played in a total of 32 minutes with a nine-minute stint vs. Toledo and a seven-minute stay against Iowa his high games in terms of playing time. Slowed some during spring drills because of an illness.

1997 Media Guide: Had 109 tackles, nine sacks and three fumbles caused as a senior … tallied a school record 377 tackles in his career, including 27 sacks … first team all-conference as a senior and junior … garnered first team honors from the Medina County Gazette, the Akron Beacon Journal and The Cleveland Plain Dealer … honorable mention all-state as a senior … played in the 1997 Ohio-Pennsylvania Big 33 Classic … plans to major in physical therapy … enjoys weightlifting and fishing … parents are Lloyd and Sandra Queen … born 2-6-79.
