1990 Media Guide: Will vie with Rich Huffman for the No. 2 tight end spot, and maybe more, depending on the condition of Jeff Ellis … good blocker and a tough, physical player with decent speed and good hands … has been bothered by injuries much of his career … tried at linebacker in the spring of 88, and was on his way to winning a starting job when a shoulder injury forced a return to tight end … is still waiting to catch his first college pass … a valuable member of the special teams.

1989: Missed the first four games with a shoulder injury, but played in the last eight, most of his action coming when OSU utilized a two tight end look.

1989 Media Guide: Underwent should surgery in February … did not take part in spring drills but is expected to be ready in the fall … dedicated player, who spent long hours in the weight room in the offseason … tough, physical player … moved to linebacker in the spring of ’88 and figured to start there last year, but because his shoulder could not stand up to the constant hitting at that position he was moved back to tight end.

1988: After moving back to tight end, worked his way up to No. 3 on the depth chart and played in six games.

1988 Media Guide: Moved over to linebacker from tight end in the spring … still learning the position, but the OSU coaching staff thinks he can be of immediate help … an additional 14 pounds should help him at his new position.

1987: Saw action in 10 games as a reserve tight end.

1987 Media Guide: Advanced to the second team tight end spot behind Higdon in spring drills.

1986: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: Caught 45 passes for 11 touchdowns and 800 yards during his three years as a starting tight end … also a standout linebacker.

PERSONAL: Hobbies are skiing, boating and mountain biking … favorite actor is Chevy Chase … favorite foods are pizza and steak … his top football thrill came in high school when Solon played for the league championship and totally dominated the game winning by a 49-7 margin … admires John Frank, former Buckeye tight end now with the 49ers.
