2014 Media Guide: Evan Spencer is a fine athlete and a technically sound football player who is consistently lauded by Ohio State coaches for his all-around abilities as a receiver … outstanding as a downfield blocker, Spencer has the skills to catch and run as well, with 37 career receptions for 430 yards and four touchdowns with a long catch of 44 yards … a true senior, he is an experienced performer with three Varsity O letters and who ranks second among current Buckeyes in virtually all the receiving categories … he has played in 35 games and started 14 times.

2013: Spencer played in all 14 games and started 12 times … he ranked fourth on the team in receptions with 22 and in receiving yards with 216 … scored three touchdowns; on passes covering 8 and 15 yards (vs. Florida A&M) and 25 yards (in the 31 24 win over Wisconsin) … set a personal best with four receptions vs. both Florida A&M, Iowa and Penn State … also set a personal best with 50 receiving yards vs. Florida A&M.

2013 Media Guide: Evan Spencer is an experienced, two-year letter-winner for the Buckeyes … he has played in 22 games the last two years, including all 12 games last season for the undefeated Buckeyes … he had the third-most plays among all the receivers and tight ends last year with 611, a total that included 542 plays on offense … he made two starts last year, vs. Nebraska and Illinois … he enters his true junior season with 15 career receptions for 214 yards and one touchdown … Spencer ranked fourth on the team in 2012 with 12 catches, good for 136 yards and a career-long gain of 44 yards vs. Miami … he had personal bests of three receptions twice: vs. Miami in the season opener (for 54 yards) and vs. Penn State (33 yards).

2012 Media Guide: Evan played in 10 games in 2011 as a true freshman … he then came back in the spring and was in the midst of having a fine spring practice when a shoulder injury halted his efforts the last two weeks of the drills … Evan’s first catch as a Buckeye was a ridiculous, one-handed grab of a Braxton Miller pass for a 33-yard gain in the first game of the season vs. Akron … the right-handed grab inside of the 5 yard line was considered for a national play of the week … Evan also had a 33-yard touchdown reception – in traffic and over the middle – vs. Michigan State, the Buckeyes’ only score in a 10-7 loss … counting a 12-yard reception vs. Purdue, Evan had three catches for 78 yards and the one touchdown on the season … he averaged 26.0 yards per receptions which led all Ohio State receivers.

High School: All-state offensive weapon with a Buckeye pedigree… scored 19 TD as a senior and 14 as a junior … helped lead Coach Tony Monken’s Cougars to the state quarterfinals.

Personal: son of Gilda and Tim Spencer … father is a former Ohio State running back and assistant coach now on the coaching staff of the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
