Post-OSU Update: Devin Smith was the 37th overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Smith had a difficult NFL career, managing to play only 22 games over four seasons. He finished his career with 15 catches for 248 yards (16.5 YPC) and two touchdowns. (updated: Nov. 2023)

2014 Media Guide: Devin Smith is a wonderful athlete and receiver capable of scoring a touchdown from anywhere on the field … he is the leading returning receiver on the team with 88 career receptions for 1,572 yards and 18 touchdowns … his 18 touchdown receptions rank seventh in school history and he has a chance of finishing among the top two or three in OSU history in that category … a fine season could also elevate Smith into Top 5 status for career receptions (he needs 53) and career receiving yards (he needs 724) … his 18 touchdown receptions have collectively averaged 39.6 yards per score with five TDs over 50 yards, including a school-record 90-yarder vs. Cal last season … the Buckeyes are 14-0 in games Smith scores a touchdown … he has not missed a game as a Buckeye: he has played in all 39 games the past three seasons and started 22 times … he has caught a pass in 17 consecutive games … a former state high school high jump champ, Smith has spent three spring seasons sprinting and jumping with the Buckeye track and field team … he finished in a tie for second at the 2014 Big Ten outdoor championships in the high jump by clearing a personal, collegiate-best 7-0.25 in his first competition of the season … his jump was among the Top 5 in school history – outdoors – and qualified him for NCAA regional competition.
2013: Smith earned honorable mention all-Big Ten Conference honors (coaches) as a junior after catching 44 passes for 660 yards and eight touchdowns to rank second on the team in all three categories … he caught a pass in all 14 games … he was on the receiving end of a Kenny Guiton pass that represents the longest play from scrimmage in school history – 90 yards – vs. California … less than two minutes later he caught a 47-yard TD, part of a career-high 149-yard receiving day against the Golden Bears … 49.7 yards-per-catch vs. Cal was a Big Ten best for the season … Smith also caught a big, 53-yard touchdown pass vs. Michigan … he tied a career-high with seven receptions vs. Iowa.

2012 Media Guide: Devin is among a handful of players coming out of spring drills who began to emerge as a go-to player in Coach Urban Meyer’s Ohio State spread offense … a terrific athlete, Devin played in all 13 games this past season as a true freshman receiver and then competed for the Ohio State track and field team around his winter football workouts and spring drill responsibilities … on the gridiron, Devin was among a trio of receivers who led the Buckeyes in 2011 with 14 receptions, but he ranked first with 294 receiving yards and he was first among wide receivers with four touchdowns … he had season highs of three receptions (vs. Akron and Colorado) and 67 receiving yards (vs. Toledo) … scored two of his touchdowns in the win over Colorado … also scored against Akron and he was on the receiving end of the highlight play of the year for the Buckeyes, calmly hauling in Braxton Miller’s 40-yard aerial with 20 seconds left for a game-winning touchdown in the 33-29 win over a fine Wisconsin team … returned four kickoffs for 86 yards and a 21.5 average … Devin scored points for Ohio State’s
