Post-OSU Update: David Perkins transferred to Illinois State before the 2013 collegiate season. His OSU career highlight was a huge scrimmage hit on Brutus the Buckeye. 2012 Media Guide: A visit to Ohio State’s campus in early January convinced David Perkins, the 13th-ranked “athlete” nationally by Rivals.com, that Ohio State is where he wanted to play collegiately.
High School: Outstanding on both sides of the ball and with terrific speed, Perkins is a 4-star recruit, the No. 22 outside linebacker (Scout.com) and a member of the Rivals 250 … rated as the No. 2 senior in Indiana by Rivals.com … he totaled 103 tackles as a senior with 22 tackles-for-loss, including seven
sacks … also had eight forced fumbles and nine pass break-ups … his 63 tackles as a junior included 13 sacks … rushed for 1,311 yards with 15 touchdowns as a senior, plus had 20 receptions for 291 yards … gained 765 rushing yards as a junior … helped Washington, coached by Antwon Jones, to its first state championship game in 38 years in 2011 … transferred to Washington after his sophomore season at Kalamazoo (Mich.)
