Major: Business (1992), Marketing (1991), Business (1990)

Weight: 186 (1990-92)

1992 Media Guide: Stablein is OSU’s leading returning receiver … started at flanker last year, but switched places with Joey Galloway in the spring and will now start at split end … had his best year in 1991, hauling in 26 receptions for a team-best 381 yards and earning honorable mention all-Big Ten honors … sure-handed, heady receiver, who runs precise routes, does a fine job of separating from the defender and is deceptively fast … caught at least one pass in every game last year, including a career-high five against Arizona … 32-yard reception against Indiana was his longest catch of the year … has made a number of “circus catches” to keep drives alive during his career … also returned punts last year, averaging 8.4 yards per return … a walk-on in 1988, he was converted to scholarship prior to the 1990 season.

1991 Media Guide: Will fill the vacancy created by the loss of last year’s leading receiver, Bobby Olive (41 catches) … doesn’t have Olive’s elusiveness, but does have tremendous hands and a penchant for finding the open spot in the defense … has been a solid reserve the past two seasons and played particularly well last year with 10 catches for 161 yards and one touchdown … will lay out for the ball and makes catches that sustain drives … had three receptions against Minnesota … TD came against Northwestern.

1990: Played behind Bobby Olive and was OSU’s third wide out … 10 catches included a 36-yard TD reception against Northwestern.

1990 Media Guide: Will alternate with Greg Beatty as the starting split end … played in 10 games last year but most of his playing time came in the second half of the season when he moved up to the No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Beatty … caught seven passes for 104 yards and one TD (Auburn) … 19-yard diving grab at Minnesota kept OSU’s winning TD drive alive … sure-handed receiver who isn’t afraid to block … 34-inch vertical jump … originally a walk-on, but converted to scholarship beginning this fall.

1989: Played in ten game and caught seven balls … caught passes in five games … top game was two catches for 41 yards at Michigan.

1988: Walked on in the fall and did not play.

HIGH SCHOOL: Three year starter and an all-city selection as a senior … caught 45 passes for 600 yards and six touchdowns his senior year … career totals of 95 catches, 1,100 yards and 10 TDs … also earned three letters in track.

PERSONAL: Hobbies include playing golf … his older brother, Chris, is a reserve quarterback for the Buckeyes, and was converted to scholarship after transferring from John Carroll … younger brother, Todd, plays basketball at Gannon University in Erie and his older brother, Scott, is in the Marines and served in the Persian Gulf.
