1997 Media Guide: Walk-on kicker … got his chance last year when Mike Malfatt and Dan Stultz were sidelined with injuries … wound up as the kickoff specialist and earned his first varsity letter … also kicked a 47-yard field goal against Minnesota, the first 40-yard kick by a Buckeye kicker since the 1993 season … the latter kick tied for the fifth longest field goal in Ohio Stadium history … did not practice this past spring after being diagnosed with a fractured vertebra … will be the primary backup for Stultz this year.
