Recap
Madison, WI — Despite a sluggish first half, that included a lost fumble on the second play from scrimmage and an interception in the end zone on their third possession, the Buckeyes overcame the “Madison Jinx” and rolled to victory No. 6 on the year. The Badgers, 4-2-1 at home vs. OSU since 1984, led 9-7 at the half, even though their best offense had been a pair of busted plays. OSU regained the lead in the third quarter on a two-yard pass from Bobby Hoying to Terry Glenn. Linebacker Ryan Miller set up the score with an interception and 33-yard return to the Wisconsin five. Down 16-13 heading into the fourth quarter, Ohio State marched 46 yards in eight plays with Eddie George going in from the one. George carried six times on the go-ahead drive. After the OSU defense forced a Wisconsin punt, the Buckeyes scored two plays later on a 51-yard burst by George, who had 103 of his 141 yards in the fourth quarter. Miller and Greg Bellisari had nine tackles each and ends Mike Vrabel and Matt Finkes combined for 10 tackles, including a pair of sacks, as the Ohio State defense turned in its best showing of the year, holding the Badgers to 271 yards in total offense.
