Ohio State 3 vs 42 USC
Recap
LOS ANGELES, Cal. — Ohio State rolled up 118 of its 223 total yards in the first quarter and led 3-0 after the first 15 minutes. But from then on, it was all USC as the host Trojans scored on five of their next seven possessions to take a commanding 35-3 lead.
USC quarterback Todd Marinovich threw four TD passes, including a school-record 87-yard toss to John Jackson on a third-and-two from his own 13 yard line. Marinovich struck again 50 seconds later (following an Ohio State fumble) and the Trojans were on their way to a 10-9-1 advantage in the rivalry between the two schools.
It was an especially costly loss for the Buckeyes who lost tight end Jeff Ellis due to a season-ending knee injury.
