Recap
PITTSBURGH, Penn. — The 17th-ranked (U.P.I) Buckeyes found the Panthers’ den not to their liking. Pitt jumped on OSU early, capitalizing on an interception and an illegal participation penalty for a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter.
The Buckeyes could not defend Pitt’s one-two punch of quarterback Darnell Dickerson and tailback Adam Walker. Dickerson ran the Panther option to perfection, picking up 88 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. Walker sliced through the Ohio State defensive forces for 179 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.
Pitt outgained OSU 504 to 233 in total yardage.
Ohio State’s lone offensive spark came from tailback Carlos Snow. Snow rushed five times for 33 yards and returned five kickoffs for a school-record 214 yards. His last runback was a brilliant 100-yard touchdown-scoring effort.
