COLUMBUS, Ohio — Michigan’s J.D. Carlson kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the Wolverines a 16-13 victory over Ohio State. Four plays earlier with 1:38 to play, the Buckeyes failed to convert on a fourth-and-1 at their own 29-yard line. Ohio State could not hold leads of 10-6 at halftime and 13-6 early in the third. OSU outgained Michigan 284 total yards to 248, but threw three interceptions and had eight penalties. An Ohio State victory would have sent the team to the Rose Bowl, but the Buckeyes settled for a Liberty Bowl berth while Michigan headed to the Gator Bowl.
